The names and faces of many early explorers in Canada look out at us from the books telling of their travels and adventures. But what about the stories of the First Nations people who guided them and often paddled their canoes? This poster focuses on two early mountaineers, Samuel Allen who climbed in the Rockies and Malcolm Goddard who explored the Chilko Lake area. Listen to what Samuel Allen wrote: "It is to them (First Nations) we owe the beautiful trails that follow the rivers or cross the divides of the Rockies."
